The Smoking Gun is a website that posts legal documents, arrest records, and police mugshots on a daily basis. The site also features news articles on stories that are not usually covered by mainstream media. Originally designed by Glauber and Beverly Joel of Heavy Meta, the site was redesigned in 2010 by Funny Garbage. Technical assistance was provided by Mike Essl, who also handled many other subsequent design tasks, while their Los Angeles correspondent was Samuel Bretzfi. The Smoking Gun was launched in April 1997 by William Bastone and is headquartered in New York, United States.
