The Novelist is a minimalist game about family relationships whose subtlety is undermined by some superficial narrative choices. It can be played in two formats such as in stealth or storytelling mode. The game’s story line is told through the viewpoint of a spectral figure that oversees the Kaplan family’s daily life while on vacation. The Novelist was launched in 2012 by Kent Hudson and is based in San Francisco, California.
