San Francisco Recreation and Park administers parks, playgrounds, and other recreation facilities of San Francisco, and organizes recreational programs. Its system includes 220 parks, 25 recreation centers, 9 swimming pools, 5 golf courses, numerous tennis courts, ball diamonds, soccer fields, and other sports venues and open spaces. Some of the places managed by the department are the Golden Gate Park, Coit Tower, the Palace of Fine Arts, Sharp Park in Pacifica, Camp Mather in the High Sierras, Marina Yacht Harbor, the San Francisco Zoo, and the Lake Merced Complex. San Francisco Recreation and Park was founded in 1866 and is based in San Francisco, California.
