We are building autonomous tools to prevent the transmission of superbugs and infectious diseases in hospitals. Globally, over half a million people die every year from drug-resistant bacteria. In the US, the CDC estimates that over 700,000 people catch hospital acquired infections (HAIs), costing $30B in additional direct medical costs, and responsible for 75,000 deaths. Superbugs (bacteria that are resistant to multiple antibiotics) continue to evolve at an alarming rate, overcoming the best antibiotics and traditional methods are becoming exponentially expensive and slow to develop. They are simply evolving faster than our collective ability to defend against them. Our tools are running out, and one of our best defenses is still washing hands... We think we can build new tools to help change the direction of this trend and also help save millions of lives in the process.
