The American Heart Association is a non-profit organization that fosters appropriate cardiac care in an effort to reduce disability and deaths caused by cardiovascular disease and stroke. The association publishes standards on basic life support and advanced cardiac life support and also operates a number of fundraising events. It was formed in 1915 and is currently headquartered in Dallas, Texas.
