Space Nation is a Finnish startup aimed at encouraging public participation in the burgeoning commercial space industry, has raised more than 2.2 million Euros in a crowdfunding campaign launched Feb. 2 for the Space Nation Astronaut Training Program, including one million Euros pledged in the first 43 minutes for the smartphones application for citizen astronauts. Space Nation is an official partner of NASA and has lab space at the International Space Station. Space Nation has partnership agreements with a number of space tech companies, including Axiom Space for access to the ISS and spaceflight training experiences, and IceXtech in Iceland for astronaut field training in the extraterrestrial looking landscapes of the geothermal regions of North East Iceland. Space Nation is the first space travel company to become an affiliate of UNWTO, the United Nation World Travel Organisation.
