SmartFunded provides fundraising tools to help schools collect online donations from parents, grandparents, alumni, local businesses and other members of the community. SmartFunded is a crowdfunding platform specifically designed for public schools. It allows schools to create, manage and promote an online campaign, and then invest the proceeds in an endowment, called a SmartFund. It is designed to replace product fundraisers, where schools send out kids door-to-door to sell items like chocolate, cookie dough and gift wrap. By eliminating the product from the fundraiser, donors make a tax-deductible donation directly to the school, which allows the school to retain up to 95% of the proceeds. By comparison, the average yield from product fundraisers is 25%.
