Sira Defence and Security's roots can be traced back as far as 1918 when the Scientific Instrument Research Association was formed. The association was responsible for all areas of optics development during the wars and continued this through to the 1970s when the association was renamed Sira Ltd. Sira Defence and Security Limited was formed when the Defence and Security sector of Sira was purchased by the Volvere Group in 2006. The company now concentrates on developing products to help the police use CCTV effectively.
