Simplicity Data Systems was founded in 1986 and initially focused on engineering, software and database development. SDS' initial offerings were in finance, accounting and inventory management, along with specialty projects in areas such media library and rights management. In 1991, a line of regulatory management, reference and management support products were introduced, including The MSDS Manager, Mr. Haz-Mat and the Integrated List of Regulatory Chemicals. These were later augmented with two electronic editions of DOT's Emergency Response Guide.
