SETI Institute is a non-profit scientific and educational organization dedicated to the research, exploration, and education of astrobiology. Its team of scientists investigates the origin and nature of life on earth and its possible existence throughout the universe. The organization comprises three centers: the Center for SETI Research, Carl Sagan Center for the Study of Life in the Universe, and the Center for Education and Public Outreach. Its mission is to explore, understand, and explain the origin, nature, and prevalence of life in the universe. Founded in November 1984 and headquartered in Mountain View, California, SETI Institute employs over 120 scientists, educators, and support staff.
