Scaffdex is family owned Finnish company established in Tampere in 2006. The first commercial products, CellCrown™ cell culture inserts, were developed with the researchers of Tampere University and launched in January 2007. In 2011 the first clinical tissue engineered application, RegJoint™ small joint implant, was launched. RegJoint™ is a local innovation, which is based on research and collaboration of Tampere University of Technology and Tampere University Hospital.
