SALT is a nomadic art project comprising several pyramid shaped fish racks, hesjer, constructed according to old Arctic building traditions. Norway has one of the world’s longest coastlines and an old coast culture where people have hunted and processed their catch in sustainable, natural ways. To dry the fish in the wind, the fishermen constructed fish racks, called hjeller and hesjer. Not only was the dried fish a source of nutrition – tørrfisk also became a significant export article, and an important contributor to the building of Norway as a nation.
