RetiCue is an estimated 366 million people, or 6.4% of the world's adult population, lived with diabetes in 2010. It is expected to grow to 552 million by 2030. Currently, more than 70% of people with diabetes live in low- and middle income countries without adequate healthcare, causing blindness due to retinopathy. Early detection through retinoscopy can enable easier and cheaper cure. Inaccessibility due to cost and portability of current retinoscopes is resolved with this handheld camera. RetiCue is a simple solution for early detection of diabetic retinopathy that can change the arc of growth of world’s largest cause of blindness.
