Project Atomic is a container-optimized operating system that integrates the tools and patterns of container-based application and service deployment with operating system platforms to deliver an end-to-end hosting architecture. Its cloud images are available for download, supporting VirtualBox, QEMU or KVM, and OpenStack. Project Atomic fills the gap between the infrastructure available today and the infrastructure required to run Linux containers. It was founded in 2014.
