Populus is a social network positioned to compete with the unfocused, egocentric friend / follower networks that currently dominate social media. You follow #hashtags instead of people, "Pop" instead of "Like" and we use the science of co-priori (shared experiences) to build an interest and location based social graph that gets exposed through a Facebook style API. We make online serendipity probable. We're comprised of #hashtag communities with throwback to the AOL style chatroom that makes the user feel like they're an active participant in a conversation. We change education with a contextually relevant, Quora-esque question and answer medium. We impact global geo-political dialogue. We make it safe and easy to connect with strangers, form substantive relationships that will evolve society. We act as a meta-channel for traditional news media (much like Twitter) to syndicate content.
