In 1999, Universal Express, Inc. launched the Luggage Express brand in an effort to bring affordable door-to-door luggage delivery to the masses. Luggage Express experienced impressive growth following aggressive marketing efforts. Universal Express, Inc. filed for bankruptcy on September 28, 2007 and Sports Express, LLC purchased the Virtual Bellhop and Luggage Express brands out of receivership. After a series of management changes, Luggage Forward, Inc. acquired the assets of Sports Express in July 2009. The primary benefit of this acquisition was a vast increase in capabilities and improved pricing for clients.
