Melbourne Veterinary Centre is a mixed-practice treating a wide range of animals, including carrying out healthcare for the pit ponies, , which were key to the industrial development of the area. Their current site was converted from a three-storey house into a fully functional veterinary practice, officially opened by a Member of Parliament in 1971. Melbourne Veterinary Centre’s companion animal side has since grown and has developed to such an extent that they now treat these family members exclusively.
