Southern Oregon based LocalsGuide was launched in November 2006 by Shields Bialasik. The idea was "to create a print publication using a social network." The results are achieved using a unique web2print model which invites community members to participate as citizen journalists. As citizen journalist they write reviews, interviews, post and share photos, thus creating content for the monthly publication. The paper is then direct mailed to houses throughout the community.
