Established in 1957 for the fulfillment of the orders of the Ministry of Defense, Izhevsk Electromechanical Plant Kupol JSC is an active participant in the process of ensuring national security and military-technical cooperation.For many years the company has been producing short-range air defense systems, the main developer of which is the Scientific Electromechanical Institute (NIEMI), Moscow. Today Izhevsk Electromechanical Plant "Kupol" is a part of Concern of East Kazakhstan "Almaz-Antey" and is one of the leading enterprises of the national defense complex. The main specialization of the enterprise is the production of short-range anti-aircraft missile systems Tor-M2. The plant also manufactures on-board equipment for surface-to-air missiles, upgrades the Osa-AKM and Tor-M1 missile systems, and provides service to operating organizations.
