Kenetec Inc was founded in 1999 to address the shift in network intelligence. Since the Telecommunications Act of 1996 opened competition in the local loop, service providers have worked to create broadband access networks for bandwidth-intensive applications. Competitive Local Exchange Carriers (CLECs) have had limited success entering the broadband services market.
