Mobile Surroundings is building the largest geo-tagged database of interesting past events in North America. It makes its original content available to users through a mobile app called It Happened Here, and to businesses via licensing partnerships. The It Happened Here (iPhone and Android) mobile app allows users to discover and share fascinating things that have happened nearby, such as historical events, memorable movie scenes, famous crimes and more. It Happened Here was launched in 2010 for Washington, D.C., and expanded to include New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco in April 2011.
