About company
The company is a startup within Sewell Development, a reseller of audio/visual accessories. When a few of the employees had young children and were frustrated at how hard it was to put shoes on their kids they decided to use their design skills and factory contacts to make custom shoes to solve the problem. The brand was a side-project within Sewell for a few years, but started gaining real market traction in 2017 and has gone from being a rounding error to a significant source of revenue for the company. ikiki shoes have become known for the unique character designs and are recommended by many occupational therapists as a way to encourage children to walk heel-to-toe. They also accommodate wide feet well (and are also a popular alternative to specialized orthotic shoes for kids who have braces or ankle foot orthotics, AFO's).
