International Association of Counseling Services is the accreditation association for university and four year college counseling services. Its objectives are to encourage and aid these services throughout the United States and internationally to meet professional standards, and to provide the profession and the public with information about those services. International Association of Counseling Services is committed to furthering the visibility of counseling services on university and college campuses and improving their quality. The association has evolved standards that define professional quality and has established criteria for accreditation which reflect these standards. It was founded in 1949 and is headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia.
