The Harwell Campus is owned by the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority, STFC and HPA. Starting life as RAF Harwell, the Campus played a significant role in the Second World War. With its established infrastructure, attractive location and proximity to academic talent in Oxford, Harwell was chosen as the UK’s centre for civil nuclear power research, a role for which it gained an international reputation for scientific excellence.
