About company
The Global Network Initiative is an association that provides the advancement and protection of the freedom of expression and privacy in the ICT sector. It provides its services under four segments: accountability, policy engagement, framework for companies, and shared learning opportunities. In addition, it provides a more detailed guidance to ICT companies on how to put the principles into practice. It also provides the framework for collaboration among companies, NGOs, investors, and academics. The Global Network Initiative was formed by a multi-stakeholder group of companies, civil society organizations, investors, and academics who spent two years negotiating and creating a collaborative approach to protect and advance freedom of expression and privacy in the ICT sector. The Global Network Initiative was founded in 2008 and is based in Washington, District of Columbia.
