About company
FilesOverMiles is a proof-of-concept browser-to-browser file sharing service. Like peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing applications, FilesOverMiles enables users to send files directly to other users, avoiding any intermediate servers. Unlike existing P2P file sharing applications, it works entirely in a browser. Users don't have to install or configure any software beside Adobe Flash Player, which most of them already have. Compared to existing non-P2P services for sending files (e.g., rapidshare.com, drop.io, yousendit.com), FilesOverMiles provides the following benefits to a user: * Privacy - user files aren't hosted on any servers and file transfers are encrypted. * High speed - files are transferred directly between users, so there are no intermediate servers that could slow down the transfers. * No costs - FilesOverMiles is free, which is possible because its bandwidth isn't used for file transfers.
