Energy XXI was formed in 2005 and has implemented an “acquire and exploit” growth strategy to build a geographically focused portfolio in the shallow waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Because of its focus on oil, Energy XXI has some of the highest per-unit margins in the industry. The company is focusing on development of oil and gas fields, while ramping up a complementary exploration program designed to provide organic growth for the future. Today, the company operates five of the top 15 oil fields on the Gulf of Mexico shelf, more than any other operator.
