The Ekoscope is a multi-patented, FDA approved portable medical instrument, with built-in electronic stethoscope operation, having a Bell Mode, Diaphragm Mode and a new Diaphragm Plus (TM) mode for mechanical heart auscultation. The device also features a novel removable headset, which can be interchanged with numerous other instruments in the future, such as a fetal doppler transducer. There are 8 built-in EKG electrodes, fabricated from a compound copper substrate, then specially treated with silver chloride to improve conductivity. The hard surfaces of the device are molded from ABS reinforced with aluminum; and the flexible parts are derived from a blend of (DEHP free) polyvinyl chloride for durability, smoothness and flexibility.
