EdgeworthBox combines a marketplace matching buyers and suppliers with three categories of tools from financial markets. Think of it as a "Bloomberg terminal" for procurement. This financialization of the RFP process makes it easier for buyers to attract more proposals, generating greater competition on price and solution. Procurement today is in the early stages of digitization, like financial markets twenty-five years ago. We intend to accelerate the transformation of the underlying business process using technology in the same way that technology has changed trading from the days of high bid/ask spreads, slow transaction cycles, and varied inefficiency. Our ultimate goal is to automate the RFP cycle. To collect the necessary data, we have developed tools: central clearing of vendor administration and of data along with social networking.
