Background The Curraghinalt Gold Project is a proposed underground mine located near Gortin/Greencastle in Northern Ireland. The site is situated within the Owenreagh River catchment in a hollow screened by trees facing away from the Sperrin Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). If approved (and subject to further study), the project is expected to last for more than 20 years. The proposed project will include the following components: An underground mine and access points on surface (portals and ventilation); A mineral processing plant; A mine waste storage facility; and Infrastructure and services required to support the activities.
