The CTK is founded on October 28, 1918, on the same day as Czechoslovakia, then under the name Czechoslovak Press Office. CTK was a state agency until the 1990s, and its history is closely linked to the fate of the Czechoslovak state.The Czech News Agency (CTK - Česká tisková kancelář) is the Czech national news and information agency providing objective and complex information for the free formation of opinions. The service is provided to other media, companies, state agencies and individuals. CTK is a public institution created by law.
