COHA promotes the common interests of the hemisphere and raises the visibility of regional affairs. COHA is a nonprofit, tax-exempt independent research and information organization established to promote the common interests of the hemisphere, raise the visibility of regional affairs, and increase the importance of the inter-American relationship as well as encourage the formulation of rational and constructive U.S. policies towards Latin America. The organization deals with the entire spectrum of political, economic, and diplomatic issues as well as responds to the economic and political challenges confronting the nations of the hemisphere. COHA also produces its bi-weekly publication, the Washington Report on the Hemisphere, which is circulated globally to various universities and organizations. It is founded in 1975 and is based in Washington, D.C.
