Calpine Power Income Fund (TSX: CF.UN) is an unincorporated open-ended trust established under the laws of Alberta. With an initial yield of 9.35%, the fund was created in August 2002 to invest in North American power assets that are energy efficient, environmentally preferred, and hold long-term energy sales agreements. The Fund’s first three plants are located across Canada, in British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario. The Fund's primary objective is to ensure a stable and sustainable flow of distributions to Unitholders and increase distributions by at least 1% per annum. The Fund is sponsored by Calpine Corporation (NYSE: CPN), a leading independent power producer, headquartered in San Jose, California, which will own a 30% subordinated interest in the Fund. The Fund is managed by a Canadian subsidiary of Calpine Corporation, Calpine Canada Power Ltd.
