Breakthrough Prize honors important achievements in the categories of fundamental physics. It is sponsored by Sergey Brin and Anne Wojcicki, Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan, Yuri and Julia Milner, and Jack Ma and Cathy Zhang. Breakthrough Prize offers $3 million dollars each in prize money to the laureates. They are supposed to attend a televised award ceremony designed to celebrate their achievements and inspire the next generation of scientists. As part of the ceremony schedule, they also engage in a program of lectures and discussions. Breakthrough Prize was founded on July 29, 2012.
