In 1953, two shoemakers, André Brantegem and his brother, started a shoe factory in the Oostvlaamse Lede. In 1962, André opened his own shop at the factory. The first Brantano store was a fact. There was a rapid growth with many new stores, providing self-service and convenience for the customer, choice and service. These basic thoughts are still found in today 's stores. Since September 2016, Brantano is part of FNG , a strong growing Benelux fashion group with activities across Europe. FNG designs and distributes clothing and shoes for both ladies, children and gentlemen through their own concept stores in top locations in Belgium and the Netherlands, but also through a network of multi-brand stores at home and abroad. FNG is a listed company on the official market of Euronext Amsterdam and has more than 3,000 employees who together realize a turnover of approximately 500 million euros. FNG is the mother house of brands like CKS, Fred & Ginger and Claudia Sträter.
