Blink is a web enabled system designed to store patient information, book appointments, and record examination data. Blink has been developed by generationNET limited, a website development company from Leicester that began offering website development services to small businesses from all sectors in 2003. Through the experience of friends and acquaintances in the world of optometry it was evident that there was room in the market for an easy to use Practice Management System, so generationNET developed their first desktop based opticians software system, using Visual Basic, around 2005. Following the relative success of the first PMS and with the advances in cloud based systems on the horizon, the natural development path, and the way forward for opticians software, was to develop a new online system – so BlinkOMS was created. Blink was launched early in 2011 and has since been modified and refined, in response to comments and requests that have come from existing and prospective customers.
