Basilisk Self-healing concrete has been developed at TU Delft and is based on an autonomous repair system that is made possible by limestone-producing micro-organisms (bacteria). When these bacteria come into contact with oxygen and moisture, they are able to convert certain nutrients to calcium carbonate (limestone).
