Bankom Security Systems is the developer of SafeGARD, an automated security system for safety deposit boxes in bank vaults. Its system consists of multiple sensors connected to each individual box, collectively forming a laser grid over the entire array. The grid detects every interaction with the safety deposit boxes and communicates this information to the SafeGARD computer. The system is thus able to detect unauthorized access and store data for recordkeeping and review purposes. Due to its automated nature, anyone can use SafeGARD to convert an existing vault to self-service operation and thereby reduce or eliminate the need for bank personnel to monitor the safety deposit boxes.
