Apertus is a community project focused on creating open-source tools for cinema and film production. They are intent on creating an affordable community driven free software (FLOSS) and open hardware digital cinematic motion picture camera for a professional production environment, whose development information would be shared and publicly available. Apertus was launched in 2006.
