The mission of the APA Practice Organization (APAPO) is to advance and protect the professional and economic interests of practicing psychologists. APAPO, a legally separate companion organization to the American Psychological Association (APA), promotes the professional interests of psychologists in a wide variety of practice settings. Established as a 501(c)(6) organization under Internal Revenue Service rules, the APA Practice Organization is able to advocate free of Internal Revenue Service restrictions that apply to activities of a 501(c)(3) organization like APA. The creation of APAPO has fostered new and expanded activities to support the psychology practice community.
