American Humus™ is an organic liquid soil conditioner produced from naturally occurring Humic substances found in rich deposits of oxidized lignite coal (also known as Leonardite) in the United States. Humic substances are made of three main chemicals: Humic Acids, Fulvic Acids and Humin. Commercially, the term “Humic Acid” refers to the combined content of Humic and Fulvic Acids. Like many substances found in nature, Humic Acid is not one but a complex mixture of different acids containing many functional groups that makes it a good chelating agent of nutrients, allowing the slow release, and reduced leaching of plant nutrients. This increases crop yields and soil fertility while decreasing the need for inorganic chemical fertilizers.
