vindictive attitude and refusal to fulfil their obligations

I had a bad experience with this firm. For a university project we had to set up a single-member limited company and they handled the administration. They only generated invoices for their own fees and charged us the same as they would charge another company that could present hundreds of invoices, but we always paid what they told us to pay.

When we dissolved the company, the last job they did for us didn’t seem fair in terms of what they were charging, so we didn’t pay that invoice. They didn’t say anything about it and didn’t do the work, so the company didn’t file all the accounting documentation required for the closure, and later the tax office chased us for it and fined us.

When I contacted them, they admitted they had deliberately chosen not to tell us that they hadn’t done the work, knowing it would cause us problems, take time to fix, and result in a penalty from the tax authorities. And when we later told them to go ahead and do the work and that we would pay the invoice, they refused, which goes against the professional code for tax advisers and even breaches the law.

We decided to hire another firm, which solved everything for us at a much lower price than the original invoice they wanted to charge. Having a vindictive attitude and taking justice into their own hands is extremely unprofessional, especially because, as experts in the law, they knew from the beginning that by acting as they did we would have problems with the tax office and end up being fined. Simply telling us they hadn’t done the work because we didn’t want to pay the invoice would have solved everything, but they preferred to stay silent and let us face the problem.

We had paid every invoice for two and a half years, on time and in full, which was not a small amount just to manage the accounting of their own invoices. They later used the excuse that they thought we might have done it with another firm, even though they knew that without asking them for all the documentation they held, it would have been impossible.

In short, they know their job very well, although they are expensive compared to other firms, and their vindictive attitude and refusal to fulfil their obligations once we were ready to pay the invoice means they are not good professionals.
