No sense of responsibility to the client - No communication
My mother passed away in June 2023, there was no property and I handled the banking and investments, I just needed someone to file the paperwork with the state. I gathered the documents needed and provided those to Atty Mitchell of Saxton &Stump in January of 2024. By March all I had was an estimate of the taxes needed which I hand delivered to their office and was told it could be six months so I waited until September to follow up. No response. Again in October. No response. Again in November and was told they would check on it so I contacted the state to see if they could tell me anything. The paperwork had never been filed. 11 months and they had done nothing. In December I asked if I should come get my paperwork and go somewhere else. Atty Mitchell finally contacted me. As I had a family member who needed this settled, he offered to do a partial disbursement which we did in January of 2025. Again the wait - followed up in June - nothing - then in September of 2025 when I again followed up, they finally had the notice from the state and we could finalize the estate. Got the final invoice and Atty Mitchell had charged me over $1400 for his time on the partial distribution!! This would not have been necessary had he just done his job in a timely manner and we pay him??? He took no responsbility for his lack of efficiency, concern, communication, nothing. Just pay him like he did a fine job. Nice enough person, but no sense of responsibility to the client. Would NOT recommend this law firm.
