Nothing resolved yet. "The Scrapped Coach, not scrapped", "The auctioned premises not auctioned"
Nothing resolved yet. After successfully bidding and purchasing a coach at the CJ Down Auctions I was told the coach had now gone back to the CJ Down Garage in Tavistock, Devon.
On 10 May 2024 when I emailed to ask if I can collect I was told the coach had been scrapped because the premises where it had been auctioned. I questioned this since the scrapping could not have been done without my knowledge and I was told I had been contacted by phone and never picked the phone. There was no record of missed calls and I asked for the catalogue and alternatively a follow-up email since/emails since if I was not available at least I should have been ocntacted since I had the V5s. The employee for Malcolm Harrison I was in contact with Vicky then emailed on the 15th of July 2024 repeating that indeed the coach had been scrapped.
After I pushed back on how that could have been possible she then changed her line and sent me another email, purpotedly from CJ Down saying the premises had not been auctioned but will be auctioned on Thursday 18 July and I had to collect the following day on Tuesday since the coach had in fact not been scrapped but it had been in storage and the vendor was now purportedly demanding £60 a day in storage costs an amount that was going to over £2400.00. I queried why I had been misled all along until the morning of 15 July 2024 and said I could not be ambushed into travelling to Devon on the 16th of July or even the 17th of July and £2400.00 in storage was completely unfair negotiating to pay up to 10 May 2024. The vendor, whose email contact I wasn't given despite asking for them, allegedly agreed and said he would be auctioning the same previously auctioned premises the following week and the I should collect the previously scrapped coach or it would go the scrapping for the second time. I requested to collected on Friday 26 July 2024 but was told to do so on Thursday instead. I agreed to this and travelled to Tavistock. While en route to Tavistock I received an email suggesting that I should have carried cash and that the EAT for the vendor would be 5pm. If I did not have the £1800.00 cash plus VAT I would not get the coach and it would be scrapped. I obviously could not withdraw the cash and Malcolm Harrison sent another email suggesting I could do a Bank Draft to them before collecting. I refused because I wanted to see the coach first since there were inconsistences on their part. I asked for the vendors contact as I had called and the phone that's on their website was registering as unrecognised.
I was not provided any alternative phone numbers or any email address. The employee for Malcolm Harrison I was in contact with only replied to say she did not want me to email her again. I was made to travel to Tavistock for nothing and the same Malcolm Harrison that had initially said the premises that had been auctioned were suddenly not sold and the coach that had been declared scrapped was suddenly there again and ready to be collected. They wanted me to part with more than £2000.00 even in such air of uncertainty. I travelled all the way to return empty-handed and all this from an organisation that is supposed to be trustworthy.
