Did not become a client
My husband and I met with John Pak after I had an initial quick phone call with him. I thought it was fair to let him know before an in-person meeting that I track our investments for our family, like to self-manage (rather than pay advisory %), and we're looking for by the hour consulting (which Otium offers on their website). He went into the ways I probably do not understand what I am doing, which is fine and why I am looking for a readiness for retirement analysis and game plan going forward. Once we were on the meeting together with my husband he interrupted me quite a bit and seemed to direct the info he was giving at my husband alone. When I spoke he became defensive, interrupted and used my name in a scolding tone. Very weird since I work with financial professionals and high net worth people in my career and do not see this. Questions are usually not an issue to professionals. I am in a "people business" - as a way of letting you know I am not aggressive in my interactions. I really was there to learn but he spent too much of the initial consultation meeting focused on putting me in my place.
