I enjoy their unique options for rolls. The crazy monkey is one of my favorites; deep fried, spicy mayo &eel sauce, cream cheese, avocado and crab.

Their house salad is also delicious. I also got the fried rice and miso soup.

The staff are always friendly and fast. Love this place!

Good place to go and get some sushi. Hot and Spicy Grill Roll and BMW Roll are must have for this Resturant. Mock-tails are very expensive here. Happy hour sushi prices are good for the quality you get.

Been here a few times for sushi and appetizers. The crab wontons are super good and so are the dumpings. Sat at the sushi bar which was pretty cool to be able to watch them make it right in front of you. Service was good. Sushi was pretty good as well

I absolutely love their happy hour! I have been there multiple times and have always gotten great service. They have clean bathrooms, great music, and reasonable prices. Wakame have plenty of free parking. They also have a patio for when Minnesota decides to allow people to enjoy fresh air. The majority of clientele are in their 20s-30s. The shrimp tempura and hot sake is my favorite combo! Definitely check it out!

Always great food, especially sushi! The Bentley and Cowboy roll are my faves! The staff is very friendly, quick and efficient! The owner is involved on the floor with his staff and is very accommodating to last minute big parties! Probably wouldn t recommend showing up last minute with a big party, but he will take care of you!

A busy and popular sushi establishment with an excellent selection of roles and salads. A word of caution that it may be particularly busy on Saturday nights so expect the wait to be a while and the food to be prepared a little longer. I suggest either calling about a reservation or put your name down on the waitlist in advance. Otherwise, it is well worth the time to enjoy the great tasting sushi and associated dishes (including the seaweed salad). Hope this helps!

gosh, by the long wait time and long line i was expecting better than average sushi. it was actually a little disappointing, after a long wait to get seated, then a long time to order and finally get the food, it was not anything special. kinda average or less.it was edible and fresh but between the drive, the wait , the uninspired service, I'm not in any hurry to go back. ate tonight at the place near my house and it was much better, not to mention closer, quicker, better service, etc:)

They said the wait would be short and then we ended up waiting 40 mins. Seems like they only said the wait was short so we wouldn t leave. This was during happy hour and proceeded to say we couldn t get the happy hour price if we didn t get seated when it was clearly their issue for not being clear about the wait time.

The food is phenomenal! Reservations are not always seated on time. They have been extremely busy during COVID times so allow yourself a couple of hours for dinner. They are moving as fast as they can but have a lot of orders to fill. Great service refilling drinks and bringing out non-sushi appetizers promptly. Outdoor dining is appropriately spaced and host stand has been moved outside.

It may look like your average neighborhood restaurant but It is anything but average. The restaurant was bustling with people even on a week night. The service was good and their menu had loads of variety. The food was pretty good too. Overall a good place to hang out with friends.

Wake me is a very popular spot for neighborhood locals on a summer Saturday evening. Lots of people were outside lounging and chatting with drinks and friends. It looked comfortable and relaxed.
I had dinner at the bar since the sushi bar was full. The bartenders and all the staff, really, were friendly. Even though they were busy, no one looked stressed or irritated. The owner, George, was at the host stand - nice guy.
My sushi was great. I kept it to a basic roll and some nigiri for my first visit. I wasn't disappointed. They quality was great, the prices are excellent. I live in the 'burbs, but I'll happily be a regular here.

My husband took me to Wakame for the first time this past weekend and it was excellent! We had a California roll, Tootsie Roll, and the BMW roll. They were all fantastic but I think that the BMW roll was my favorite. We will definitely be back!

Leaving two stars based on the mere fact I got there and their kitchen was closed yet location was still open. Website says nothing about kitchen closing an hour before and only being a bar. Wasted trip.

This review is for the happy hours which are plentiful

This is my 4th time in over the last couple of years and it has earned a 4 star review for:
Salmon that melts in your mouth at a decent Minneapolis price.
$2.50 for a perfect, thick, creamy, melt in your mouth piece nigiri salmon... i already want more
Deals on rolls - we especially enjoy Hot and Spicy Girl
Deals on most drinks
Good location

Tip:
Go before 5 - if you don't want to wait for a table at the early HH

Really great food, table service is occasionally lacking in both accuracy and prompt, bar service is very consistent, had a takeout order that got the fresh rolls but left off the peanut sauce. Eat here whenever in St Louis Park at least once. The above comments are based on two visits this week, but are representative over the years, again it's awesome sushi and Happy Hour starts at 3, yippee!

Since Wakame is right alongside some chain-y restaurants, I didn't have super high expectations for it. Wow! Now it's the go-to sushi place for my wife and me. We've brought our year-old twin boys, and the staff were very accommodating. We recommend the signature rolls especially, like the "Hot & Spicy Girl Roll". Then go around the corner and get frozen yogurt for dinner!

Absoultely delicious sushi and a great experience. Definitely more pricey than other sushi restaurants, but you get what you pay for. Only critique is that we made reservations for 8 PM, and didnt get seated for an extra 10 minutes. Definitely recommend you make reservations or you will have a long wait!

We've been going here since the soft open and every meal has been amazing. Their happy hour is generous both in length and price and their lunch menu offers a few things not available on their regular dinner menu. The staff is always courteous, prompt, and knowledgeable.

Being from California I'm picky about my sushi. This is the first sushi place I've been to in the Minneapolis area (Uptown specifically) that has been all around good. The sushi is super good as well as the fried rice and the crispy rice! And the happy hour prices are awesome! Will definitely be back.

READ BEFORE YOU GO: family dinner disaster. Maybe the single worst Asian food in the Twin cities. The service was fine, but the food was too forever and eneded up inedible and then sushi made us all sick. The fried calamari was cold, and had to be returned. Korean ribs were hard and also inedible, had to be returned. We were told we'd have a wine comped- we didn't even get tha. It makes you feel bad to complain but really for how expensive it is to eat here you had to do it. The sushi, thr pad Thai, literally every single thing was bad. Maybe the good cooks were on vacation?

Always a wait for a seat, but it's always worth it. The food is great, the drinks flow and the atmosphere in the evening is fun and energetic. Definitely recommend. Probably not the best place to bring your child after 7pm

While our party was leaving and walking toward the door one of the employees was saying "thank you" the manager on duty said under her breath "No thank you. You should have left..." I didnt get the rest as I was too far away from her at this point. I told my bf since I was the only one in earshot to hear and he went back to tell her how extremely rude it was. Her response was "okay." Mind you we didn't stay any longer than eating and waiting for the check. By the way she was staring awkwardly and uncomfortably at out table at the end of the meal as if we were chit chatting hold them up expecting us to leave even though we were still waiting for our check to come back is what I'm assuming the rude comment was referring to.

Wakame is our favorite go-to restaurant. Only a 5 minutes drive from our place, the kitchen is open even late nights making it a perfect "too-lazy-to-cook-let's-go-out" eatery! We often end up ordering the Basil stir-fry, the Tom Yum soup, the egg rolls, and sushi rolls, the qhole assortment is to die for!

The happy hour menu is great too! For lunch, our usuals are the bento boxes, highly recommend the Chicken Grapow and the Grilled beef ones. The rolls are very decently priced too!

A lot of parking space, good service, and a great ambience overall! Wakame stays true to Asian cuisine and is a must if you are a Japanese food connoisseur!

Their house sake was very delicious. Also, the Bentley Roll was spectacular. I recommend a side of eel sauce... We also finished off the meal with tempura ice cream, and it came in cute bite sized pieces. Slowly becoming my favorite sushi spot. Miso soup wasn't anything too special. Gyoza was decent, should have pan fried it a little more.

I wish I could put less than one star. I went to Wakame on a Sunday. I had a Nigiri Deluxe platter. The sushi was mediocre at best and over priced compared to other similar places.

However, the reason for such a low review is that I also order chicken fried rice. First, the rice came out after I had already gotten my check. I was still hungry so this didn t bother me too much.

However, that dish of fried rice was the worst dish I have ever had at a restaurant. I have never had to spit food out into a napkin but this meal was literally not edible. It tasted like rust and mold. I was completely disgusted and can not believe any restaurant that could serve such a disgusting dish could ever stay in business.

I will never come back and I hope none of my friends do either.

I came in for lunch and it was great! The restaraunt was very busy with only 2 servers and a host and they did fantastic. Parker and Tanner held down the entire restaraunt and the bar and were so polite. The wait was not long. Will be back!

My husband and I were very excited to try this place so my parents were in town we decided to go to Wakame for dinner. When the waiter brought out waters one of the full glasses was spilled all over my husband s lap. The waiter apologized but blamed it on my husband (multiple times) for moving his menu (which it didn t happen). My husband was then cold for the entire meal and because we walked there he walked home while he was still wet in below freezing weather. The food was delicious but it was hard to enjoy.
