I l after called the my warranty company and no phone call was EVER made to the warranty co. Upon calling volkswagen I was finally called back with, and I quote "we forgot to call or whatever ". This time, the guys in there are new of course I don't know how long because I haven't come back for a while. They greet me, help me with the part, specially Jesse very patient with me. Thank you. Everything went pretty smoothly except one part that I want to WARN others about. The car we purchased was sitting outside for a while so was very dirty. We inspected for flaws in the body and not seeing any went forward with the purchase. A couple of significant scratches were discovered however AFTER purchase once the car was washed and detailed. In retrospect, some things Dennis the salesperson said makes me believe he knew about defects. When asked if there was anything we should know about car he said we should look for ourselves. I told him the car was dirty and he said they do not detail until after a car is sold. Moral of story: HAVE CAR WASHED BEFORE YOU MAKE FINAL DECISION. My fault for not insisting but left me with a very bad feeling because of what happened.

I feel like I can never have enough good things to...

I feel like I can never have enough good things to say about Volkswagen of Oakland. They always remember me (AND my husband AND my baby). I really get the feeling that they care about my family, and that they're working to get me the best deals, and that they want our relationship to last a long time.

I recently had to bring my car in for both scheduled maintenance and a repair. The repair fell under warranty, but to be honest, I didn't have any faith in that process. I have worked with so many companies that will do anything to keep from honoring a warranty not so with Volkswagen of Oakland. They had the repair finished quickly, and something that would have cost thousands of dollars only required a $50 copay.

I'd like to offer kudos to Webster ("Web") in the service department. He is so kind, and always listens to me, and he is such a reasonable guy and a great communicator with a warm sense of humor. You can tell he is a family man. I feel really lucky when we get assigned to Web, and I have even starting telling my husband when he goes in, "No not THAT guy, go for the first desk on the left ask for Web!"

Another great person on staff is Athena in billing/admin. She has always remembered our family from our very first phone conversation. She has a great personality, never tries to sell me on something I don't want, and you can just tell she's a decent and hard-working person. I really appreciate her and try to say 'hi' even if we aren't being billed for anything. She's just the kind of person who always makes your day better.

Another great person on staff is Sully. I always stop by to show him my beautiful grubby baby, and he always remembers us. So does Julian. :)

I never thought we would be a "dealership" family, but I really appreciate the staff at Volkswagen of Oakland, and we will keep coming here for as long as possible.

I have the cursed Jetta TDI. The check engine lig...

I have the cursed Jetta TDI. The check engine light came on and the dealership is charging me $651 for the repair when online the high end cost of replacement of the Rear oxygen sensor is max $250. What a bunch of crooks!

Webster the manager's explanation was that it takes his mechanic at least an hour to find the problem ($175/hour). Really Webster????!!!!?! Just because I'm a woman wearing a dress and heals doesn't mean I'm mechanically Illiterate. These days to find a electrical issue with a NEW car you hook it up to a computer which spits out a error code telling you exactly where to find the problem. It takes less then 5 minutes. And I did verify this with 3 other VW shops (dealer and non-dealers) just to make sure I had it right.

Now the Rear O2 sensor is a plug so literately you have to dig a bit (no more the 30 min max) to get to the plug, pull it out and replace it. That's it. I actually watched the guy at the shop where I took my car in for a repair do it so don't try and tell me YOUR mechanics that are VW TRAINED will take over an hour to replace it.

So the max you should be charging for the work is $145 + the $250 for the part. That's a total of $400.

I've been coming to the shop for almost 10 years now. I explained that this month I've been hit by hospital expenses and it's my daughter's 16th Birthday. You'd think they'd at least be honest with their charges. NOPE! They don't care. As long as the money goes in their pocket what does it matter if they are overcharging.

The whole service office staff has changed since my previous review. It's now run by the crooked Webster and his hooligans. I would highly discourage anyone from using them.

I found a great shop in Berkeley that does VW repair. You can message me for the name if you want. HONEST, solid people. Got the whole job done for $330 + tax. Still out the $175 to VW for the supposed hour it took for the mechanic to hook the car up to the computer and read the error on the screen. Sounds to me the money went to pay for reading lessons for him so he code read the instructions the computer was giving him because he sure wasn't digging under my hood.

About a month ago i went to Vollkswagen in Oakland.Ca looking to buy a car.
I was wellcomed by a gentlemen by the name Julian,a. a sales associate, he gave me a tour of the cars ,i decide i wanted a 2013 jetta,i informed Julian that my credit was not perfect,he gave me a great financial review , he came up with a great offer and i have to say im very happy with my 2013 jetta.
Julian has great customer service skill ,i am very satisfied .I recommend to anyone if you are looking to purchase a Volkswagon. go to 2740 Broadway in Oakland.Ca ask for Julian ,hes the salesman that makes it possible.
This was a very pleasant experience.

I met with Sheena Driver (Sales) who displayed amazing customer service skills. She was very professional, and she really worked with me to assure that I received the best deal possible. The entire sales team, et al, assisted Sheena in her efforts to help me secure a great deal. As a result, I was able to leave VW of Oakland with the car (2018 Passat) and the features I wanted with the budget I had to work with.

Three years ago I leased a 2015 Jetta, although I wanted a Passat, but an affordable great deal was not doable so I settled for a Jetta. This time, Sheena and her team saw to it that I got exactly what I wanted and more, which warmed my heart!

As well, Sheena and her team was very patient and understanding about my financial situation. Also, prior to meeting with Sheena, I had to postpone our meeting several times but Sheena didn't give up on me.

Thank you Sheena, and team! And, thank you to the two young men who patiently cleaned the car, picked it up from their car lot in JL Square and tolerated my sister and I with our requests.

This dealership is hands down the worst experience I've had with a service of any kind. I've had to go back to them repeatedly to get a simple service done because they couldn't perform it properly and each time the same member of the service team said it wasn't his problem someone else must've done it.

I found Josh to be entirely straightforward, attentive, respectful, knowledgeable and funny. He was helpful in finding the right vehicle for me, even though I didn t know at first which that was.

VW vision is a really neat feature.
And everyone was really friendly and eager to help! Unlike other places where they act like you're an inconvenience.

I should have looked at past reviews before shopping.
There is a clear pattern of bait and switch tactics especially trying to get you to finance.

My wife and I spoke with Chelsea the salesperson (hard to blame her as I m sure she s getting instructed from higher ups). We did not want to waist time in dealership as we knew exactly what we wanted a Volkswagen convertible. They had the color in stock.

We specified to Chelsea we were all cash buyer not interested in financing. We asked what was best price she could give us given that situation. She sent us a text with specific price and no other info or disclosures.
We fully disclosed we had also hired another car broker and would like to see if they could do a little better than what was quoted. She said the only way to get an even better price than what was quoted was if we were open to financing.

We said we were not interested in financing and we would continue looking. After discussing with my wife that we wanted to give Chelsea the business as she was nice and helpful we called back a day later and said we would take it. She said that s great come on in. Then minutes later we get another text saying we ll work something out on the price as that was financing price. (ahh now that we re committed)

Her manager TALEO got involved and instead of asking us what happened he immediately quoted what was on the website. I explained to him we were not on the website it was all over the phone and all parties were very clear it was all cash offer as Chelsea had confirmed 3-4 times. He then ignored his employees promises and our unsatisfactory experience and asked if there was any way we could finance a little piece of it. He kept saying come in we will work it out. Constantly ignoring what was promised on their end and trying to get us to do it there way with financing.

We explained to him this was not the way to do business and we would let our reviews do the talking as well as contact Volkswagen as this high pressure bait and switch approach was not ok.

He then insulted us by saying we were bullies for asking them to honor what they promised and to stop trying to steer us in another direction. Unbelievable sales manager who was never on the call with his rep and had no clue about our conversations. Condescending rude and arrogant. He never even acknowledged Chelsea may have not understood or might have miscomunicated the offer.

This is why people hate dealing with dealerships

We will not buy from this dealership ever and we will now buy another brand not Volkswagen.
I have heard great things about Dorito brothers in Walnut Creek. If you must buy a Volkswagen make the extra trip.

The rudest service i received from the female agent just today. I walked in and explained what I needed with the exact stock#s. she did not let me finish my sentence and put up a "time out" hand gesture saying l should first introduce myself? I would not let someone with an attitude and mannerism like that take the commission off of the car purchase I would be making. Never going back there if I have to deal with a salesperson with an attitude when I have a large pool of extremely professional sales people around to help out in anyway.

I took my car in for a few repairs because only dealerships have the parts for my older car. They flat out told me my timing belt was old and needing replacement, despite the fact i had it replaced literally 5 days prior them looking at it.

The VW Service center charged me 350$ for labor on a job multiple mechanics quoted me at no more than 100$.

Biggest scam ever.

Nacho from sales is a nice guy. Did a very good job when I worked with him. He listened to all of my concerns and answered all my questions to the best of his abilities. My issues are with the sales manager and finance folks. I purchased a vehicle after my previous one ( also purchased there ) had been totaled. I was still waiting on insurance to process everything when VW Oakland let me know me I could still go ahead with a new purchase in the meantime. We picked a vehicle and signed all the paperwork...etc A month and a half after the fact they informed me I had to return the vehicle because they never submitted paperwork or even secured funding. Prior to this day they had never once expressed any concerns. In fact being over month after I signed it would have never occurred to me that there would be any issues. They informed me that my credit was not approved due to a previous car loan that I was still paying off which to me made sense. I was just dumbfounded why they decided to wait more than a month to let me know especially when i repeatedly mentioned I was getting ready to move across the country. I guess they were so eager to make a sale that they would do anything shady to secure it...Then they assured me if I brought a co-signer I could get it approved but when I let them know I had one with excellent credit they ignored me. So now I had to change my plans and decline a position I had already excepted due to the circumstances...all of which could have been avoided if they were upfront from the beginning. If you're gonna do business with these people just make sure you cover your ass otherwise they will screw you. At the end of the day they don't care about you regardless of what they tell you:) Happy Friday everyone!

Disgrace of an experience. I did my research ahead of time and went in ready to buy a car. Prior to showing up I worked with a sales guy, Samuel Leyva, to ensure the car was good to go. First, Samuel doesn't even bother to show up for the appointment. Next, the car needs new bumpers and has not been cleaned, nowhere near ready. The rest of the sales team had no idea I was even coming in. They did their best but Samuel threw them under the bus. If you give the dealership a try, avoid Samuel like the plague.

I do not recommend buying your next car here. My boyfriend and I were happy with our experience up until it was time to sign. Our salesperson, Chelsea Adams, was insistent upon getting us a car insurance quote from someone that she knew and worked with at State Farm. We weren't interested in that, but Chelsea called anyway. She started out the call by being rude to the agent and then did not like the answer she got (that they were closed on Sunday and unable to give a quote until Monday) so she called the agent annoying and r******* WHILE SHE WAS STILL ON THE PHONE. I was appalled the she spoke this way to someone at all, but especially that she would do that while she was in front of someone she was trying to sell a car to. I relayed what she said to the sales manager and informed him that we wanted a new salesperson since we no longer wanted to do business with someone who felt comfortable saying those things. The sales manager asked us to sit in the lounge while he found a new salesperson. We were then brought to the finance guy with no indication that we were going to be using a new salesperson or even a statement from him saying that she does not represent their values and conduct as a business.

I am left to assume that Chelsea's terrible behavior towards the agent is acceptable and par for the course at this dealership. I, personally, wish that we had not given them our money and am disappointed that Chelsea probably still received her commission. It is 2019, that kind of language is unacceptable.

And to top it off, our car got a flat tire the day after we bought it so we had to spend extra money on a new tire immediately after buying a car.

About 8 months ago I needed help with my beetle. I was referred to Volkswagen of Oakland by a friend who bought her car at that dealership. I worked with Athena. Not only was she polite and professional but she was able to guide me to the proper help I needed to get my beetle running at top performance. Since then I decided to buy another Volkswagen for my son and went back to Volkswagen of Oakland. What a relief it was to see a familiar face (Athena again) in the sales department. Great dealership with awesome employees who make you feel comfortable and informed

I hope no one will have to go through such a bad experience. I was only provided with one key and was promised to mailed out second key as soon as it get back to dealer. Sales person is horrible with responding on time. He was rude and told me that he had other work and was busy. It took him almost a week to reply my text. I had to call several time and leave him message to get a call back as if I was asking something extra. After 2 week they mailed out my key but to wrong address. I could not sleep all night thinking that someone is walking around with my car key and it is vulnerable to theft. How could someone be so irresponsible. I kept checking with sales person about my mail tracking but he got back to me after 10 days and mentioned that there was a typo in the address and was mailed to wrong address. It s been a month now and I still hasn t gotten my second key. It s so embarrassing and frustrating to call every week to ask for the second key which I should have gotton at the time of purchase. I feel like I have made a horrible mistake buying a volkswagen car and got involved in such disgusting business. Even after of all these inconvenience the sales person is very rude And feel burden to respond my queries instead of being apologetic. I would never recommend any of my family and friends to buy any Volkswagen car or even specific with this dealer. It s been almost 2 month now and I am still dealing with my refund issue. Please don t make a mistake like me.

I purchased a used Mini Cooper after seeing it online. For a 2011 clean veh with 25,000 miles it looked like a great deal. I walked into the showroom and met with Tim the salesman and after a short price price inquiry I left. A few hours later I got a text from Tim thanking me for coming in and asking me what it would take to make the price attractive. I made an offer and we ended up splitting the difference. I showed up at 4:30 and left at 5:30 with the keys. It was fun actually! Plus the Volkswagen dealer had pictures of my first two cars- a 65 bug and a 65 bus! That was fun too....

They have a nice system in place here and it shows in the consistency of the customer experience. I only take my Tiguan here for servicing. There is no reason to shop around as well as the prices are reasonable for the level of service you get.

Everyone we dealt with was honest, patient, knowledgeable, and personable. Relaxed and competent - no hard sales tactics. And their pricing is the best -

Do not ever use this dealership to buy a car especially a used car. My partner and I went to this dealership to look at an used 2016 vw touareg. We test drive the car without the sales rep Diego Soto. We then come back to tell him our concerns about the car and what our concerns were in terms of repairs. We then explicitly asked him what else that the dealership was aware of in terms of what needed to be repaired for the car. He then proceeded to lie right in front of our faces that everything is working. We were given documents for the car maintenance records and warranty information when going through finance.
A few weeks go by and I notice that my first time trying to set cruise control the car errors out saying no view window available for front assist. I cannot set cruise control at all. I take it back to the dealer to use my nearly 7000 dollar dealer warranty to have it fix. Diego responds back to me saying Oh, you bought the car as is and you signed our document saying you acknowledged front assist was not working . He then texted me this bogus document with my obviously forged/photoshopped signature several hours later. Nowhere in our paperwork did we get a copy of this document, nor do I remember signing the document he texted to me as I read all the paperwork I signed. My partner and I both asked Diego and finance if there were any major problems with the car that we should be known aware of and both sales and finance lied to our faces. They knew beforehand about this car issues and did not bring them up while buying this car. This is wrong on so many levels of having some semblance of trust of buying a used car from the actual vehicle manufacturer brand.
VW dealers around are now quoting thousands of dollars that I have to come out of pocket for repairs. Do not trust this dealer with your buying needs and definitely do not trust the lying sales department. We will be also filing a formal complaint with the BBB about this situation because of how messed up this was.

As far as car dealerships go, it was mostly averag...

As far as car dealerships go, it was mostly average. Pushy salesman and annoying negotiation process.
However, they also did one thing which got me really angry. On the info sheet stuck to the window of the car, it listed a few features which the car turned out to not actually have. In hindsight, I definitely should have checked myself, but still. They sold me a car while functionally lying about its features. Seems pretty scummy and possibly illegal.
I m currently awaiting a response to my email requesting they rectify the problem by installing the missing parts.

These guys are the worst......they will rip you off. Beware and stay away.....their service department charges double and takes advantage of seemingly unaware women. I would seriously consider any other dealership then VW of Oakland
