Great place to meet friends and enjoy a meal or a few drinks. Very lively and happening place. Two bars and plenty of room. Most weekend nights they have live music. Highly recommended if you are in the Gaslamp area. Close to Petco park. HOME of the Padres.

This restaurant I would say is more of a sports bar. The prices were good but the food was just okay. When we are back in Gaslamp we probably would not come back to this location after finding many more great restaurants in the area. Especially near the bay.

YAAAAAASSS! This restaurant has a system down of good service, good food and great operational timing. This takes a very good manager working closely with great back house and frontline staff that knows what they are doing. And when it all comes together - magic happens! Thank you Union Kitchen team!

My daughter and I were seated in a lovely outside booth which was very comfortable. The host happily seated us with the kitchen open for 15 minutes before it closed. Grilled shrimp salad and fabulous fries were perfectly delicious. Very pleased with our late night dinner.

Pretty good American bar, small but good range of food options. There should be something for everyone. Wide range of beers for those just looking for a beverage. Quick, polite and courteous service. Can't fault it.

Fantastic and great food. And pretty darn quick service with our large group of eight people too. All the food has great portions as well. I ordered the fish tacos for lunch and was not disappointed. The portions of the fish were a good size and definitely kept me tied over until late in the evening.

This is an awesome place to eat. My friend had the Shrimp and grits and it wan amazing. I had the pulled pork sandwich and it was excellent. The best part was our waitress, Desi. She was very entertaining and Tom gold care of us. Highly recommend this place.

Filet was delicious. Service was quick. Waiter was good. No complaints at all. Made a gamble going in here on my birthday having never heard of this restaurant. Pleasantly surprised.

Before I begin, I must say my review may be a little one-sided, only because I went during lunchtime and it happened to restaurant week.

BUT, having said that, I will say it is an attractive lunch spot in and of itself. The inside is much bigger than most bars of its kind, and it's definitely an exciting place you would want to go watch the game with all of their TVs inside.

The patio is also one of the most comfortable I've endured; instead of small tables, they have very wide, long booths that are two steps up so you can be the same height as people walking by. (Yeah! No more patio seating looking at people's shoes!)

As far as the food goes, it's still your average sports lounge menu; but with a twist. They have healthier options (their watermelon salad was actually really delicious, fresh and quite refreshing) alongside their normal burgers and stuff. But they also have wraps if you're looking to go down that route, and I must admit, with some ranch and buffalo sauce--we were quite content.

Grab a beer, a seat on the patio and something to nibble on and honestly, you'll be good to go.

Food took 45minutes to come out which was too bad. Apparently the grill was broken, it would have been nice to know that before we ordered. Does not live up to the quality of the Encinitas counterpart. Food was great.

Enjoyed our dinner there. Very cool, chilled vibes. They allow dogs in the patio like most places on gas lamp. Reasonably priced I think. To me, this place was a one and done kinda deal. I enjoyed my food there - there was nothing memorable to rave about.

Restaurants that specialize in sloppy sauce-slathe...

Restaurants that specialize in sloppy sauce-slathered menu items and "craft beer" can be hit or miss, but mostly miss. I went to Union Kitchen & Tap with an open mind based on the hype, but appropriately skeptical based on my gut instinct.

This restaurant reminds me a lot of the Yardhouse. I don't hate the Yardhouse, but I also wouldn't go there unless I was acquiescing to the questionable taste of a friend or co-worker. If you like the Yardhouse, you'll probably like Union Kitchen & Tap.

This place is a bit too "corporate chain-like" in its atmosphere for me, and served me a meal consisting of two decent-to-good dishes (poutine and collard greens) and one horrible misfire (the vile gumbo) that was so fundamentally awful that I do not believe it to be a "kitchen had an off night" situation. I may give them another try at some point, but for now I'd recommend Knotty Barrel as a place nearby with a similar menu/price point but superior execution.

Come here for a beer or to watch sports but go elsewhere for food. Ordered a wrap for lunch and what I was served was nothing like what was described. Lettuce served with a side salad was wilted. A typical overpriced corporate downtown restaurant that should be avoided by anyone not on company expense account.

While I understand that rent is high in the Gaslamp and restaurants need to price accordingly, Union is incredibly overpriced for what you get. The food was reminiscent of bad Red Robin, but with a higher price. The cocktails were not bad, so that was nice. The biggest reason for the 2 stars, however, is the service. Our server was incredibly uninterested in helping us. Barely made eye contact with us, and seemed to be more interested in dancing around and goofing off with her coworkers. We had to request several items more than once, and she seemed to be irritated every time that we made a second request for something that she had forgotten to bring. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. With all of the good options in the Gaslamp, you will get more for your money.

Good food and prompt service but it is a bit noisy. Good for both large and small groups. Nice rustic feel with an upper level. Sit outside on tables by the street or go upstairs for a different view. Bars are located both upstairs and down dio there is no issue of you want to order from the bar. Waitresses made the rounds but the larger the crowd the longer it takes them to make the rounds.

Food was pretty good, although it was more warm than hot by the time I got it. Wire a few television screens had sports on the night I went. Good view of them from most places.

This place has awesome tap beer, great food- both small plates and entrees and live music on the weekends. Not to forget the amazing staff members. Been there twice in our stay in San Diego. Once with a group of 17. Totally awesome place.
