I eagerly awaited the opening and I was not disappointed. Both the book selection and the menu items were limited but well chosen. The food was good and reasonably priced. The atmosphere was cosy and colorful. All-in-all, a welcome addition to Spenard. Highly recommended.

Drinks are incredibly over priced but I like the store itself and the book selection is good. Dont order the strawberry daiquiri... its nothing close to what a daiquiri is supposed to be..
Enjoyed another delicious bowl of soup at one of the friendliest cafes in Anchorage. Spacious eating environment, and then there is also the bookstore part, which makes it easy to pick up some good reading material.
I got a panini sandwich, an order of Pelmini (not sure if that's the correct spelling), and a chai latte. Sandwich was good, the chai was great, and the Pelimini was amazing! I will certainly being going back just for that. Great atmosphere. Great service. 10/10 would recommend to a friend.
Cozy, vibrant atmosphere, southwest burro is a 7, cool blue grass group of musicians performing, nice Lil selection of books, amazing idea from the creators and a perfect historical, hipster, Artie fartsy location to have it in. Your Wi-Fi needs helps.
what a wonderful and inclusive space! as someone visiting from portland, OR, this bookstore felt like home. very comfy and laid back, with impressive breakfast and lunch options in addition to your expected coffee shop fare, plus alcohol options, which is always nice. i'd love to catch some poetry reading or live music here! in my weeklong stay in anchorage i visited here twice and enjoyed being there both times. my partner ordered their pelmeni and i had some matzah ball soup for lunch. his pelmeni was incredibly good, while my matzah ball soup was a little on the salty side, but still tasty!
Great place to grab coffee, lunch or even a drink! A very diverse selection of alcohol from beers to sake. Want to meet a friend for a bite? Well them look no further!
A cozy little community location with a wide range of things to do, eat, see and hear. Wish there were more study places like this, look forward to more live events!
Nice prices for FANTASTIC coffee. Absolutely loved my honey milk tea, sadly don't remember what blend it was. I tipped what I thought was a decent amount for our customer service and realized I wasn't paying as much for coffee as I suspected <3 Thank you employees at Writer's Block Cafe, it was a wonderful visit.
It's new, and i enjoyed the panini sandwich I had. They came up with a way to keep books in your hand and enjoy a meal and they do have beer and wine. I will go back there
