The service was awful, we sat 10min went by and we still didn't have a waitress at our table, i had to go talk to the hostess, and when she did come she took our drink order, brought them and didn't see her again.. the food was not the greatest, I've had better at a lower cost, brunch did not have much of a selection...the bathroom stank like $@#& , there was no toilet paper, no hand soap, just awful experience, we went for my moms birthday, thinking it was a high class restaurant but very disappointing , will never be back, nor would i recommend it to friends..

Since the remodel, Castaway has not failed to disappoint. The place was spectacularly redone and is now modern and elegant, a perfect complement to the amazing view. And more importantly, the food and service is excellent. Well deserving of 5 stars.

The location alone deserves five stars! Perched on a hill overlooking the valley.Restaurant recently re-opened after a major RENOVATION.
It now looks like a LEGIT sexy, high end restaurant/lounge.
I'd like to say our server Karen was the best part of my night. Her attentiveness and friendliness did not go unnoticed. The food is pricey but delicious.

I m sure the remodel is wonderful, the pictures look phenomenal. The food was always great. My one-star is for the destruction of their weekend brunch buffet. It was the most famous brunch in L.A. where people all around the world would travel to experience. Now it s a uninspired off the menu brunch.

I guess I will just eat brunch somewhere more local to me. Does anyone have any suggestions that would be second to the brunch Castaway killed?

Horrible service and food would never go back there , worst experience ever! I would honestly not come back here. The remodel is nice but why over pay for bad service and bad food! So much for celebrating my 10 year anniversary with my special wife!

Canyon top with beautiful patio, fire pits and great views of the entire surrounding area. Specialty is steak which they do very nicely and don't forget the homemade jalapeno corn bread, with honey butter and pink sea salt.

Parking can be a bit inconvenient. Luckily we came in during the breakfast-lunch hour, so it wasn't terrible. The view was nice, waiter and waitresses we're very attentive. The only negative to this experience was that the front desk receptionist was a bit rude.

Came here after the renovation and it is so much better. Honestly, its a completely different place. I wish the menu offered smaller seafood plates but we only saw the emperor's seafood platter which is $165. It was delicious but not sure if it is worth it. We had 3 different kinds of steaks there, 2 filet mignons and a rib eye. They were all fantastic but not mouth-watering amazing. Definitely have had better steaks for around or lesser price but you are going there for the atmosphere. Perfect for date nights or a night out with the boys or girls.

Went for Sunday brunch with in town relations. The brunch menu offers eclectic fare in place of the old buffet. I had a charcuterie plate, my cousin had crab cake Benedict, and her husband had the 4-inch high French toast plate topped with stewed apples and smoked maple syrup, a side of fried bacon, and a mimosa. Aside from the busboy coming by to top up our bottled water, it was a long wait in-between to put in our order, get served and settle up. Casual dining shouldn't take 2 1/2 hours from start to finish. The food was good, though, and the waitress (when she came by) was quite friendly. Still, it was getting close to late, when we finally left.

I used to come to this location years ago when I worked in Westwood and totally forgot about it. I had a hankering for kabobs and Shamshiri came up in my search results. Now the food is some of the best kabobs I've had. The quality, taste, quantity is so good. The only bad thing is it's pretty pricey. So I will be back but will have to reserve it for special occasions or when I'm treating myself.

The Castaways has gone down in value lately. They used to be my favorite restaurant in Los Angeles, one to which I took all my visitors. First, they should re-establish the salad bar in the evening. This was always a big draw and the offerings on the salad bar were terrific! Second, they should serve a nice warm bread prior to the meal--currently no bread is served. A nice warm loaf would be terrific. And third, they should offer at least one pork dish on the menu. They used to serve a great bone-in pork chop. Hope to see some improvement in the future.

I liked it, spend a wonderful evening, thanks to the staff that took great care to give us the best service to so many of us. The atmosphere that formed in the patio was great. Do not forget that Castaway also exists in the mountain of Sam Bernardino, CA. Castaway a place to enjoy "at height"

I know 1 stars may seem a bit harsh, but I was really really let down. The food was really good, whoever the service was not. We had a reservation we showed up about 35 minutes early. No problem we sat down at the bar figure we would have a couple of cocktails before. No joke it took the bartender 15 minutes to get to us. When I asked him what beers are on tap he said let me get you a menu. They only have 6 beers on tap, not a problem how hard could this be to remember? Maybe if he put the same effort into learning his job, has he put spiking his hair up he might actually have been a good bartender. We sat on the patio views are magnificent. like I said earlier the service was horrible, after our waiter took our initial drink and appetizer order. The charcuterie platter very very good by the way. we literally did not see him until it had been finished for at least 10 minutes. During this time it was impossible to get anyone to bring us another beer or even fill a water glass. As fancy as this place is trying to be their service staff is not pulling it off. We will probably go back as the views and food were good. Let's just hope they can get someone that can manage their staff. Maybe even trying them maybe hire a bus or something or someone just to make sure people have water.

Tried this place twice. Service is awesome!

Tried this place twice. Service is awesome!

However, the food is bad. Chicken came out room temperature and it was rubbery. I'd gotten a medium and a hot tender. Both had no flavor whatsoever, they were just plain spicy. The fries also had no seasoning at all, like 0 salt.

There's way too many new Nashville chicken spots so I won't be coming back here.

The one star goes for the view, that is awesome! The food is mediocre, overpriced, there were a lot of flies flying over my food. This business seems abandoned. It could be an excellent spot! Disappointing!

Great setting, patio dining overlooks the east San Fernando valley. Eating outside next to a firepit as the sun sets is amazing. The food is good, not great but there are a few standout dishes.

One of my favorite places to go for great views of the valley while dining. They just did a huge remodel and the place looks incredible. Easy to go for just cocktails and appetizers on the patio or have a full sit down meal.

Was introduced to this spot by a friend, had to head back again. Outdoor seating is always in demand but with current Covid-related laws only outdoor seating is allowed so reserve way in advance if you can. Walk-ins are welcome but there might be a wait time involved. Seating limited to 90 minutes for table of two but service is prompt and food was fantastic. The views are brilliant and make the experience even better. Highly recommend.

One of the worst experiences I ve had at a restaurant. I made a reservation for my wife and I to celebrate her birthday. When we arrived for our reservation we were told there would be a 30-45 minute wait for our table(kinda defeats the purpose of having a reservation) Understanding that it was busy, we waited patiently until they texted us that our table was ready. They told us that the table we reserved outside wouldn't be available and they d have to seat us inside. We were a little frustrated with that.. but decided to make the best of it. They ended up seating us in a section with two graduation parties happening (literally the last thing you want to be seated next to when you want to have a romantic dinner with your wife) Once we ordered it took over 30 minutes just to get a refill on water. Half of our order never showed up and half of our drinks never showed either. I asked for some salt for my steak (which tasted very bland) which never came. I never got to eat my whole meal because once they finally brought water and salt, my meal was already cold. Not to mention half of my wife s meal never even showed up. The staff was polite, however, the management didn t seem to really care to go above and beyond to remedy the situation. In the end I paid $55 for 3 pieces of shrimp, half of a bland steak, and a side of fries. We left still hungry and down $55 for basically nothing. Overall one of the worst experiences I ve had at a restaurant. Straight up... a Chili s would have had better service.... a freaking chili s....

I give the food a 5 stars and service/management a 3 at best. Had a party of 9 and was given only one server with no help on a Saturday night. Nobody came to pick up our used silverware or plates after our appetizers and our delicious steaks came out with nothing but used butter knives to cut them. Manager ordered a free scallop appetizer for one of the guest in the party since his steak was overcooked for a medium rare order, but instead of the appetizer being handed to him, they gave it to another person in the party that ordered a fish dish ( if management was apologetic and offered an appetizer, you would think they would have hand it to the person themselves!). Many more faux pas I need not to complain about. Great views and decor and our server did the best she could with the help she had.

Amazing view and good atmosphere and service tempered by mediocre unimaginative food fron a pretentiously worded menu. I had Branzino that was over cooked, some of my companions ordered steak that also apered to be over done and was basically a small piece of meat all by itself on a bare plate.

Bad service!! Went to the new year's event last year, drove over & purchased 2 tickets and asked for a secluded table so my wife & I could be alone. The salesperson never mentioned that the tables are shared and basically said you will certainly be seated in a nice area, etc. Paid almost $300. On new year's eve we arrived to find that they had seated us at a table with 6 other couples, all their tables were that way & she conveniently failed to mention that when she was selling us those tickets. They ruined our New Year's celebration as we were forced to sit with people we didn't know & were really looking to make it an evening out for the two of us, not for shared seating with 12 others. Oh I did complain, but the salesperson basically gave us a bunch of attitude. Had they been honest & upfront, I would not have purchased anything, but by being dishonest, they cost us our New Year's eve & $300.
